HR at a plant or mine is a hands-on generalist function — talent acquisition, payroll and statutory returns under EPF, ESI and the Bonus and Gratuity Acts, contract labour governance, welfare and occupational health services, and day-to-day industrial relations with the workforce and the union. The department also carries the medical and first aid establishments at each site.
