About the role

A generalist post supporting the mine HR function, weighted towards the compliance and shop-floor end of the work. You will spend more time at the gate, the canteen and the contractor office than at a desk.

It suits someone who has done contract labour compliance properly at least once and wants broader exposure — welfare, recruitment support, statutory returns and the early stages of grievance handling — under a senior IR manager.

Key responsibilities

  • Administer contract labour operations: gate passes, headcount verification, wage disbursement monitoring and compliance document collection
  • Maintain statutory registers, muster rolls, wage registers and returns under the Mines Act, CLRA and allied legislation
  • Assist in domestic enquiries, grievance redressal and shop-floor level dispute resolution
  • Coordinate welfare amenities — canteen, rest shelters, drinking water, sanitation, transport and colony maintenance
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, induction training and coordination of statutory medical examinations
  • Maintain attendance, leave and time-office records, and provide inputs to payroll
  • Organise employee engagement activity — safety week, sports and festival celebrations at site
  • Prepare manpower, attendance and absenteeism reports for site management
  • Support inspections by the labour authorities and DGMS on manpower and welfare matters

Qualifications and experience

  • MBA / MSW / PGDM in Human Resources, Personnel Management or Labour Welfare
  • Generalist HR experience in a plant, mine or other industrial establishment
  • Practical knowledge of the Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act and its record-keeping obligations
  • Proficiency with biometric attendance, time-tracking and contractor management systems
  • Strong interpersonal ability with a direct workforce, and willingness to be based at an on-site mine location

Preferred, not essential

  • HR and IR experience in mining, cement, steel or a similar industrial sector
  • Exposure to unionised industrial relations and domestic enquiry documentation
  • Working knowledge of Odia
